I admit I am the biggest christmas cookie fan!!!! I love cookies and this time of year I love to bake cookies. After last years insanity of 12 days of cookies I decided to be a bit more reserved this year and try 2 new cookies and redo 2 favs from last year.
The favs from last year were chocolate chip cookies and biscotti.
The 2 new cookies this year were Citrus Gingerbread and Death by Chocolate covered Cherry ( they are really so rich that you can only eat 2 ).
I had some issues with my oven temps. This old oven has always done great I had finished the chocolate covered cherry and gingerbread cookies. For the the chocolate chip the temp needed to be raised from 350 to 375. So doing what I normally did I raised the temp. However the cookies came out really weird and were done about 7 mins early. I have an additional oven thermometer for dyeing fiber and put it in the over. Although the stove said 375 it was really like 500 degrees. hmph! So I turned it down to 300 after 45 mins it read at 350 …..what the heck!!!! I baked the last of the chocolate chip on 350 because I was afraid to change it anymore. Luckily the biscotti was suppose to be at 350 so it got baked up too.
An update on the oven……I baked some cherry crisp dessert for tomorrow as the oven will be working on a ham for the meat eaters in the house. It seems to be a 25 degrees off today.
