I love your Friday updates! I haven’t been feeling well this week, so you have my complete and utter sympathies. Feel better soon! Love the sound and sight effects in your fiber update.

Thanks Hazel I was hoping I wasn’t too loopy in my drug induced haze:) I’m starting to feel better already!

Hi, Brandi. I continue to be impressed by all you do! You must be superwoman!

Since you asked for comments, I’m going to oblige, but first let me say I’m really enjoying your Fiber Friday video blog. I love your backdrop with the tools on it — it’s simple and appropriate for your theme without being distracting.

That being said, I think the sound effects are distracting. Maybe the occasional sound effect would be okay, but I found them startling and one of them drowned out what you were saying — which I wanted to hear.

Similarly, the graphics for graphics sake alone were too much. But it was a great use of the graphics when you used them to spell out the name of the wool.

Last, a curtain for the window behind you and better lighting in front of you would be a good idea. I’d love to be able to see the colors of your yarn better, but with the light behind you it’s difficult. For some of my photography projects, I’ve used a clamp light from Home Depot that costs about $5. It looks like a lightbulb in a metal funnel attached to a power cord and clamping device.

Keep in mind that all this is just my humble opinion and that I don’t have the energy, creativity, or guts to put myself out there every week in a video blog — and you do!

    Hope you’re feeling better.

I realize lighting is a bit of an issue I have a day light lamp. I’ve been putting it in different places to help. I’ve tried other areas of the house, it’s strange I have a wall of south facing windows but that was too much light and other places were too dark. I’ll try putting the lamp in from of me and see how that works. I would also like be able to show the yarns better. the camera does zoom but my camera man doesn’t(go figure lol). I’m finding that figuring out the exact loudness for the sound effects to be a bit tricky. I will definitely work on that one. I did play a bit with the text effects in this video(as i did just figure out how to use them….i got a little excited lol) I probably will just use them every now and again during the video. I’m feeling much better today now that I’m off the pain meds(not so fuzzy).

  4. […] I used this dorset as part of my dyeing experiment I started last week with the devon fiber. You can see more about that here. […]
